ENTERPRISE GOLD MINING COMPANY'S GALLOWS TURNTABLE |
![]() |
| The gallows turntable on the
"ENTERPRISE
GOLD MINING CO." was scratch built from plans drawn by Al
Armitage that were published in the Nov\Dec 1989 issue of the Short
Line & Narrow Gauge Gazette (pages 72-75). These plans
are 1/64th scale (S scale) but are a perfect size for the smaller
On30 locomotives such as the Porter's and the Shay's from 'Bachmann'.
All I did was to slightly widen the gallows to accommodate the wider locomotives in 'O' Scale. The turntable motor was located in the shed at right of the photo which turned a large ply disc under the baseboard. While this part worked well, my indexing system didn't - ah well, back to the drawing board! In the end I discarded the indexing and judged the stopping of the table by eye, as can be seen in the photo below! |
